An Easy Plan to Looking Your Best for Your Family Fall Photos
Okay, ladies!! Yes, I know that I said it, CHRISTMAS!! I really despise that the stores bring out everything WAY before they need to. In fact, yesterday I went to purchase some more fall decorations at Michael’s and I could hardly find any due to the overload of Christmas decorations!! But there is something to say about being completely prepared for what can be an extremely stressful time of year!
And I know that there are a ton of photographers that are starting to schedule mini Christmas sessions now!! I thought sharing my easy to follow plan for getting ready for a family photo shoot, and feeling great for it would be helpful for you all, so here it goes!!!
2-3 weeks before the planned date, start picking out your outfits! I like to start with a color scheme. If I have an outfit I know I want to use, I will start with that, or sometimes it starts with one of my kid’s outfits that I really want them to wear. Whatever it is, I use pins like this on Pinterest to help but complimenting colors together. I lay out all of the outfits together. I make sure I have everything from accessories to shoes. The stressful part is done! Now to the week before for your plan, as a mama to feel and look your best without spending a ton of time doing it! It just takes preparation, and planning ahead!
**Once you have the outfits chosen make sure you prep your children by showing them ahead of time. This will help, hopefully, alleviate any arguments the day of!
5 Days before the Photo Shoot start everyday with a glass of room temperature with freshly squeezed lemon juice. I use this tool and squeeze a bunch for the week so I’m ready to go. Do this every morning, but especially every morning this week. It is cleansing for the liver, and in return gives your skin a healthy glow. Everyday this week, fill up a bunch of water bottles for your day every morning. We are going to drink half our body weight in liters everyday this week leading up to our photos (but really everyday!!) Limit your dairy intake this week, and processed foods. If you want a more detailed food plan, I would be glad to help!! Contact me HERE!!
3 Days before This is where you exfoliate your whole body, and face! I use this for my face, and this for my body. You can also try this homemade exfoliant, but to save time order the products recommended!
2 Days before Self tanning day! Yes, unfortunately we have lost our summer glow, and it’s great to have a little glow. It’s so important to exfoliate the day before for this step so it goes on smooth. I also do this two days before so it gives it a few days to wash off. The last thing we want to do is look like an Oompa Loompa for our photos! I have been using this self tanner. It’s not too dark, and goes on smooth. Since I have been working on switching everything into our house as organic or as not-toxic as possible this is on my list to change as soon as I run out! I have heard great things about this one and will be trying it out first!
The night before, drink a ton of water, avoid having alcohol or any high sodium food. This will prevent dark circles under your eyes, puffiness of your skin, and will also make your skin glowing for pictures!
Paint nails. Ladies, I always seem to forget to do this step, and while it doesn’t seem that necessary, it does make your look more polished. I have found an easy solution, that you only need to do one coat of the polish! It’s a neutral color, and it’s my go to for any event if I don’t have time for a manicure, or to sit and wait for my nails to dry! This is my go to nail polish that is the perfect nude color!
Straighten hair. We all know that the less we have to do the morning of trying to get everyone out the door the better! I recommend straightening your hair the night before, so there is less time you will need to take on getting yourself ready!
The day of, add curl to your hair. Make sure you pack a lipstick or lipgloss to reapply, and HAVE FUN! The more fun you make of it, especially with kids, the more excited and happy they will be! Play some fun music, dance around and get everyone in the mood for a memorable Family Photo Shoot!!! Your makeup should be a little more than your day to day. It always looks less in photos!! Also make sure you pack a few non-messy snacks for the kiddos!! Hungry children doing something that you want them to do is never a good idea!!
Smile big, let loose, and love your family. Happy PHOTOING!!!!
