My Quarantine Faves
8 weeks in and I wanted to share with you the purchases I have made that are keeping me sane and happy right now. Life is simpler lately, which I’m completely digging. My mission now is how to curate a slow and simple life once everything gets going again.
These are all things that I have recently bought to elevate my state to continue to be a happier mom.
This book has been a page turner. I know if I didn’t have children to tend to, I would have been done in a week. This book has little stories all throughout that leave you inspired, connected, and pondering the way we parent, live, and show up in the world.
I have purchased a few fun workout tools that I’m literally obsessed with. These ankle weights are super fun to add to workouts. You can strap them on for a walk or use them for leg lifts in a workout. They aren’t super heavy, but they are just enough to feel after walking 3 miles.
I have also been using these weights while jumping on my new rebounder. I had one before but one of the kids broke it and I forgot how much I love this as my cardio! Plus, it’s great for your lymphatic system and is helping me heal my EBV. Bouncing on the rebounder will help detox and drain your lymphatic system. Our lymphatic system is what gets rid of toxins, so it is SO important that we continue to support it and help it drain. And plus it is SUPER fun! I put on my music with a ton of beats and get bouncing! And no, the guy doesn’t come with it, LOL!
Keeping our dinners exciting yet healthy has been a challenge for me, so I purchased this cookbook and I am obsessed! So far my favorite recipe is her enchilada recipe. But her desserts are to die for!
Journaling is something that is getting me through this time, and life for that matter. These journals are my favorite by far. They aren’t too big, but they are sturdy
And finally, meditation has been number one priority right now. It is saving me. It’s not making me the zen mom that I would love to always be, because, let’s face it, we all have our moments, but it is definitely taking the edge off and helping me navigate through this time. I use the Insight Timer app. There are a ton of great meditations for beginners to more advanced. You can search the time you are looking for, the topic or emotion you are feeling. It’s great! I also use other meditations from other spiritual teachers, but if I do, I use the time in the app to keep track of my meditations. As I type this, I am on day 60 of meditating consecutively. I like knowing and it keeps me motivated to keep going. Meditation helps with anxiety, sleep, feeling calm, focusing more, improves learning, and I could go on. Meditations can be as simple as closing your eyes for one minute and listening to the sounds you hear around you.
So that’s my quarantine in a nutshell. My go to’s, and what is keeping me sane! I hope you are all healthy and well.
Sending so much LOVE,
Rachel Ibbison
