Working Out With Young Children
Ok! So I made it!! Not as bad as I thought, but definitely a work in progress! I have a long way to go, and sometimes feel defeated, but I'm determined. Finding the time is difficult, as sleep is limited. I would much rather wake up first thing in the morning and get it done by myself, and over with before I can talk myself out of it and get distracted. But until I am getting better sleep I have to be creative and incorporate the kids, or do it while they're napping. If you follow me on Instagram, or Facebook, you saw my nap time picture the other day:
I'm really trying not to put any pressure on myself, and slowly get back into the groove, so for the first week I did one full body workout, and 2 cardio sessions. The second week back I did 2 full body workouts and 3 cardio sessions. My fitness level is definitely not where I remember it, but my body also went through a whole lot, and so I know I have to be patient and slowly get back to my crazy, fun workouts. I definitely want to be gentle with my body and slowly get there as I know too many that have had major set backs from working out too crazy right away. We are lucky enough to have a gym where I have variety and can perform these workouts in our basement. Jimmy and I always since we moved in together talked about building up a gym so we would still be able to workout when we had kids. This is a huge priority for both of us, so it has worked out really well.
For cardio right now, I am doing intervals on the treadmill. I'm exclusively breastfeeding, so I do have to be careful about my milk supply. So I'm slowly upping the speed each session I do, and will start incorporating different cardio as I build up my endurance. I am doing either one minute intervals or two minute intervals. Right now I'm at jogging and running, definitely not running and sprinting.
For my two full body workouts, this is what I did so far. I will continue to post and share my workouts as I progressively work my way back to less cardio and faster weights. I need to make the most of my time and workout efficiently, as I'm sure all of you Mommy's can relate!
I would love to hear your feedback if you try these workouts, or if you are working towards getting your body back post pregnancy. Share these thumbnails on your page and join in on the fun! It's so much better doing this journey with other inspirational moms, whether you want to get your body back post pregnancy or just want to up your fitness level, let's do this together! Can't wait to hear from you all!!!
